About our Pack

Our Purpose

The 10 purposes of Scouting relates to everything we do. From the boy who joins as a Bobcat who learns the Cub Scout Oath and the Scout Law, to the Tiger Cub who works closely with his adult partner, to the Wolf and Bear as they work through adventures, to the Webelos as he prepares himself to become a Boy Scout. Leaders, parents, and community organizations help the Scouts achieve these purposes:

  1. Character Development
  2. Spiritual Growth
  3. Good Citizenship
  4. Sportsmanship and Fitness
  5. Family Understanding
  6. Respectful Relationships
  7. Personal Achievement
  8. Friendly Service
  9. Fun and Adventure
  10. Preparation for Boy Scouts

How Does It Work?

Pack 897 is organized by parents, who follow the structure and guidelines found in the parent information guide. This means that your son will be in a Lion Den (K),  Tiger Den (1st grade), Wolf Den (2nd grade), Bear Den (3rd grade), 4th Grade Webelos Den, or a 5th Grade Webelos Den. The dens meet every Monday at Central Baptist Church at 7:00pm (except on the first Monday of the month, which is for Pack meetings). The dens follow the program in their respective handbooks to complete the rank advancement by the end of the school year. All of Pack 897’s Dens get together in a Pack meeting once a month. Pack meetings are held at Pamela Hodson Elementary at 7:00pm All family members are welcome to accompany Cub Scouts to Pack meetings. Parents are responsible for their children’s behavior, and no children may leave the meeting room unsupervised.
